So I was reading this article in a Sierra Leone newspaper (as you do) and the Sierra Leone Indigenous Traditional Healers Union is mentioned.
That’s a union. For witch doctors. Do you think they take industrial action? Where would they picket? I particularly like the mental image of a wizened old witch doctor dropping his rattle and bone bag and walking out of his hut because “it isn’t union conditions”.
What kind of scab labour do you think could be shipped in to replace them during the strike? In my head I see a few dozen swamis being flown in on a military aircraft to rural Sierra Leone but realistically you know it’s just going to be a bunch of Christians in matching T-shirts and wraparound sunglasses.
It’s definitely a picket line you’d think twice about crossing. Not that crossing a picket line should ever enter your mind, anyway.
